How do I find replacement bed rails?

Bethany Blocker: Go to a "junk store," a flee market, or a thrift store. Any place that sells used items and furniture. I had the same problem, but I went tothe "junk store." A junk store btw is what I call a place that has everything from used tools, used lawn mowers, used mattresses, used stoves... etc. I know of a place in Kansas if you are around here. You should be able to pick them up for fairly cheap.

William Vickerman: What kind of bed rails are you talking about? I work at a nursing home and we use bed rails to keep residents for falling out of bed. If its the kind you are looking for. Check your local Nursing homes, Usually they can get you a set or give you a set.

Ruby Martis: After selling hardware for years, I know this thing - a bracket of some type - will likely be hard to find. Might try a salvage store, if there are any nearby. Note, however, that the thing is just to secure the rail to the headboard, while still being fairly quickly removabl! e. Using a chunk of 1"+ "angle iron, somebody handy could fashion a suitable bracket or brace, drilled and bolted. EDIT: Go with Bill's answer. I stand corrected.

Trena Berum: Use a bed frame. You can buy frames of different heights, buy one by measuring where you want the bed height to be. Oh BK, Unless your lumberyard carries yellow pine I doubt the replacement is there. And poor boy you are a dummy. She's talking about bed slats. Yellow pine boards laid across the bed rails to support the foundation. We also have a 4 poster, I prefer the bed frame, much stronger than bed slats, I removed the ledger boards so they wouldn't be in the way. Our frame is set on frame lifts (4 for $10) to make it higher. The bed skirt is attached to the wood rails with Velcro sewn on the bed skirt and glued to inside of rails. Remove the foundation sheet. Easily washed and replaced. The frame has no more squeaks and no collapses in the middle of the night....Show more

Leticia Laiben: Go to a lu! mber yard or home-center and if possible bring one of the old rails with you and ask them to match it. Most will cut them to size for you if you ask. They may charge a small fee. If they don't know what they are doing usually you can use 1x4 oak boards and they will work fine. If the new mattress and box spring are larger than the frame you may want to have some boards made that are the same thickness as the metal angle on the frame so the mattress can overhang a bit. You need to make sure the new ones fit between your 4 posts before doing all that....Show more
