Should a dental assistant be removing a crown and placing it?

answers 0:Im being fitted for a perm crown,, last time i went the dental assistant removed my temporary and then placed the perm in, she then said the dentist does all adjustments.. I didnt feel good about this at all... Ive been there a number of times and she doesnt even do cleanings, only thing she has done is take an impression.. Shes rude alot, i looked up her name on my state licence site and she doesnt appear to have a license. If she was professional i wouldnt mind but she is not. When i go back again and she does this, should i say i prefer the dr to do this? Why do you think hes having her do this? my instinct tells me i may be being used as a guniea pig for her....Show moreanswers 1:Yes, of course. I had many a crown replaced and removed by a dental assistant. No harm done. I! f she is rude to you, I would discuss it with your dentist before you make your next appointment.answers 2:it fairly is advisable to debate this with this dentist and permit him to take a radiograph, verify the bite and do a seen examination of this topped teeth to guarantee it became into seated appropriate for the reason which you experience it ought to not be and are having those "twinges." whether some dental assistants and hygienist excel and are noticeably able to performing those prolonged responsibilities, they're under no circumstances allowed to realize this with out the dentist being in direct supervision and on the premises....answers 3:Shes not a hygenist, shes a dental asst.answers 4:No, absolutely not. ONLY the dentist does that and if she is being considered to do this your dentist needs to be brought to the attention of the dental board, that is malpractice and if she screws up his license will be revoked. Still could be, but whatever, you need to first fin! d another dentists and two report this and save someone else.a! nswers 5:the dentist did my cleaning himself. She also stands there the entire time i visit for the entire visit, when shes not even needed, i wouldnt mind if she was nice but shes not.answers 6:I see no reason she can't be doing this....seems like it is part of her job in that office and obviously the dentist feels she is competent. She likely stays in the room and observes because she is learning how to do these things plus often times when a male dentist/doctor is in the room with a female patient they prefer to have a female colleague in the room with them because all too often the patient can say they were touched inappropriately by the male dentist/doctor so he is just protecting himself from that happening. Bottom line is you are paying for the service and if you are not happy with the service then either request the dentist does all the dental work and if they will not or cannot accommodate your request then you should find another dentist....answers 7:Dentists do! n't do dental cleanings... the hygienists do. If you aren't happy with the service there you have 2 options. Either tell the dentist your concerns OR leave. It's really not that hard a thing. But if the hygienist is placing the crown correctly and is not causing injury or infection then why does it matter???
